Tom Smith
After graduating High School in 1975, Tom worked as a Maintenance Mechanic in an optical lab and then in a sheet metal fabrication shop. Tom received a Diploma from Lincoln Technical Institute in Computer Electronics, graduating with a 4.0 average. He spent a combined 8 years as a field service technician for both Giddings & Lewis and Mazak.
In 1994, sensing a disconnect in the machine tool service market, Tom decided to start Machine Tool Service, Inc., with a desire to provide customers with timely, reliable service. The last 20 years have been spent meeting the support needs customers have on a variety of machines and machine tools. He has almost 40 years experience repairing many different types of machines and 30 years of field service experience in the machine tool industry. Tom’s formal factory training includes Mazak, Giddings & Lewis, Monarch, Kitamura, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Yasnac and Chevalier.
